Albert Joseph Buchheit, 75, of Perryville, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Festus.
He was born December 28, 1949, in Perryville, to Alphonse and Theodora “Dora” (Unterreiner) Buchheit.
Albert and Patricia Ann Knott were married on August 8, 1970, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville. She preceded him in death on October 29, 2022.
He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. Albert retired after working many years at Mississippi Lime Company in Ste. Genevieve. He was also the founder and owner/operator of Buchheit Archery in Perryville. Albert was a member of Christ Our Redeemer Catholic Church, Niceville, Florida, and a former member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville. He was also a member of American Legion Post #133, VFW Post #4282, AMVETS Post #94 and the Perry County Sportsman Club. Albert enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially trout fishing, at Montauk State Park with his wife Patricia. Most of all, he loved attending his grandchildren’s music and sporting events.
Survivors include his daughter, Pamela Kay (Chris) Steele of Niceville; three grandchildren, Lawrence “Lonnie” Joseph Chronister, II; Brianna Alexis Steele; and Tyler Christopher Steele; two sisters, Helen (Richard) Rolfing of St. Peters, and Ann Bodenstein of Gordonville; a brother, Clyde Buchheit of Perryville; and fiancée, Janet Murray of Perryville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a daughter, Melisa Ann Gibson; his sister, Dorothy Alkemeyer; his sister-in-law, Geraldine Buchheit; and two brothers-in-law, Bill Alkemeyer and Art Bodenstein.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville and will continue from 8 to 9:30 a.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025, at the funeral home.
The Rosary will be at 8:30 a.m.
The funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville, with Rev. Fred Wandera officiating.
Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Perryville.
Graveside Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post #133 and Delta Team.
