The Perry County University of Missouri Extension is inviting young people who love horses to take part in a new 4-H Horse Knowledge Club beginning tomorrow, Jan. 16, in Perryville.

The club is open to youth ages 8 to 18 and is designed for participants of all experience levels. Students do not need to own a horse to take part. Participants will learn about horses while developing skills in teamwork, fairness and sportsmanship through friendly competition.

The Horse Knowledge Club will meet Fridays on Jan. 16, 23 and 30, and Feb. 6, 13 and 20, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Perry County University of Missouri Extension Center, 321 N. Main St. in Perryville.

Youth who participate will have the opportunity to compete in the State 4-H Horse Judging Contest on Feb. 28 at William Woods University in Fulton and in the State Horse Bowl Contest on March 1 in Columbia.

The program is taught by 4-H volunteer Mo Patterson, and class size is limited.

There is no charge for enrolled 4-H members. Non-members may participate for a $25 4-H enrollment fee, with scholarships available.
