Woman injured in collision on I-55 in Perry County

A collision between an SUV and a semi-truck that occurred at 5:50 a.m. Dec. 30 at the 123.8 mile marker of northbound I-55 in Perry County resulted in moderate injuries for one of the drivers.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck took place when a northbound 2003 Ford Expedition driven by a 36-year-old female from New Madrid was attempting to cross over the right lane to the 123 exit when a northbound 2020 Freightliner Convoy driven by a 61-year-old male from Dexter collided with the rear of the SUV.

The driver of the Expedition, who was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, was transported by Mercy Perry County Ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center, where she was treated for her injuries.

The driver of the Freightliner Convoy, who was also wearing a seat belt when the collision occurred, was not injured.

The SUV and semi-truck sustained moderate damage in the accident and were towed from the scene by Perry County Towing.
