The Perryville Police Department responded to a report of a possible stabbing shortly after 10 p.m. Monday, April 5.
The incident occurred at approximately 10:05 p.m. in the 500 block of Park Avenue.
Upon arrival, the officers found the victim, who said she had gone to a friend’s house in the 1000 block of Reddick Street to return a few Easter items.
According to the victim and witness statements, the suspect, Jodi M. Kennedy had made threats within the past week to stab the victim.
When they pulled into the rear of the residence, Kennedy jumped out from a vehicle she had been hiding in behind the house.
Kennedy then ran to the passenger’s side door of the vehicle and began to stab the victim, causing multiple knife wounds, according to the police department.

The victim managed to kick the hand of Kennedy, causing the suspect to stab herself in the leg and step back from the vehicle.
The driver then got away from the residence and called for assistance.
Officers later found Kennedy in the 1000 block of Reddick and took her into custody. She was taken to Perry County Memorial Hospital and treated for her wound.
She was then taken to the Perry County Sheriff’s Department to be held on an outstanding warrant and application of a warrant for the new charges.
The victim was airlifted to a St. Louis hospital for her wounds and remains in stable condition as of April 7.
Kennedy faces felony charges of assault first degree or attempt with serious physical injury or special victim as well as armed criminal action.
