Wibbenmeyer, Schilling earn JCAA honors

The St. Vincent baseball team received some recognition from the conference this past week.
Two Indians received Jefferson County Athletic Association-Small School All-Conference honors when the teams were announced. Lucas Schilling made the second team as an infielder while John Wibbenmeyer earned a spot on the second team for his performances on the mound. Wibbenmeyer was also named an honorable mention for his time at shortstop.
Schilling led St. Vincent with a .341 average (14 hits in 41 at-bats) this past season. He also scored 11 runs and drove in another five.
Wibbenmeyer was the ace of the Indians pitching staff with a 2.27 earned run average with 40 strikeouts and a 3-2 record.
At the plate Wibbenmeyer compiled a .288 average (15-52) with nine runs scored and three RBI.
St. Vincent ended the season with a 6-15 record and fell to Chaffee in the Class 2, District 3 semifinals.
The pair of Indians were not the only local baseball players to earn all-conference honors.

Perryville had three players named the JCAA Large school division team.
Dane Lauck, Grant Smith, and Fischer Scheiter earned spots as honorable mentions.
Lauck and Smith earned spots as outfielders, while Scheiter earned a spot as an infielder
Lauck earned a spot despite only playing in nine games after suffering a injury that ended his season prematurely.
However, in his limited time, Lauck was very effective batting .409 (9-22) with six RBI and nine runs scored,
Smith compiled a .333 average (8-24) with four RBI and two runs scored.
Scheiter batted .286 (12-42) with eight RBI and six runs scored.
