Wayne ‘Butch’ J. Whistler, 71, of Peryville died Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Cotton Point Living Center in Matthews.
He was born Dec. 9, 1949 in Silver Lake to Herbert Joseph and Mary Hazel (Gibbar) Whistler.
He served over 20 years in the U.S. Army National Guard attaining the rank Sergeant.
Butch was a 1967 graduate of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic High School in Perryville.
He was a truck driver for Mississippi Lime Ste. Genevieve.
Butch was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Silver Lake and American Legion Post 133 in Perryville.
He enjoyed BBQ’s with his family and loved to go hunting.

Survivors include one daughter, Tammie (David) Kline and one son, Tyson (Janal) Whistler both of Perryville; three sisters, Shirley (Lawrence) Buchheit of Apple Creek, Donna Zoellner of Silver Lake and Sharann (Mike) Bauwens of Perryville; one brother, Jerry (Tammy) Whistler of Silver Lake; one brother-in-Law, Charles ‘Chuck’ (Joan) Mudge of Silver Lake; special friend, Darlene Dorris of Perryville; former wife, Jean Brayfield of Perryville; five grandchildren, Courtney, Ciara and Dane Kline and Allen and Rhen Whistler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Joyce ‘Cookie’ Mudge; and one brother-in-law, Floyd Jr. Zoellner.
Visitation was Sunday, May 2, 2021 and on Monday, May 3 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville.
Funeral Mass was Monday, May 3, 2021 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Silver Lake with the Rev. Joe Geders C.M. officiating.
Burial was at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery in Silver Lake with Military Graveside Honors provided by Delta Team.
Memorial contributions may be given to American Legion Post 133, American Cancer Society or St. Rose of Lima Cemetery Fund.
