Velda R. Sutterer

Velda T. Sutterer, 83, of Perryville passed away Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2021 at her residence.
She was born Dec. 26, 1937 in Claryville to Louis W. and Albertie (Renaud) Zoellner. She and Gerald F. Sutterer were married on Feb. 1, 1958 at the Assumption Catholic Church in Perryville. He survives in Perryville.
Velda graduated from St. Vincent High School class of 1955, and was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church, K of C Auxiliary Council 1263, St. Vincent Alumni, Eucharistic Adorer, and was a Volunteer for the American Red Cross for many years. During her lifetime she was employed at various companies, lastly the cardiac clinic at Perry County Memorial Hospital. Velda loved helping people, especially the elderly. She enjoyed decorating her home for all the holidays and making those holidays and birthdays special for the family she loved so much.
Other survivors include a son, Patrick (Amy) Sutterer of Perryville; two grandchildren, Jacob (Stephanie) and Rachel Sutterer; three great-grandchildren, Colt, Waylon, and Jed Sutterer; four sisters, Alma Montgomery of Denver, Colo., Edith Ernst of Lake St. Louis, Norma Meyer and Ruby Winschel both of St. Louis, many nieces and nephews and one sister-in-law, Donna (Butz) Zoellner of El Dorado Hills, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Viola Dendinger and Mildred Zoellner; six brothers, Wilbert, Lester, Wallace, Melvin, Weldon and Ira Zoellner, three nephews, Curt Deninger, Stephen Zoellner and Joey Ernst; three sisters-in-law, Shirley (McCormick) Zoellner, Virginia (Smith) Zoellner and Mary Lou (Duvall) Zoellner and five brothers-in-law, Al Dendinger, Joe Idol, TimMontgomery, Jim Meyer and Albie Winschel.
Friends may call at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Monday, Feb. 15 from 9:30 - 11 am. Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Joe Geders CM officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Masks are required.
In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to American Red Cross or St. Vincent Alumni Association.
