Three vehicles reported stolen from Perryville

Police say an organized band of car thieves stole three vehicles in Perryville early Thursday morning.

According to a report issued by the Perryville Police Department on Friday, the thefts occurred between midnight and 1 a.m. in the area of the 200 bock of South Perryville Boulevard.

Surveillance video showed the suspects — described as three white males wearing masks — were driving a black Nissan Maxima that was reported stolen out of Union.

“We believe the suspects are an organized group who have done this previously," said Perryville Police Department spokesman Cpl. Jeri Cain. "Only one of the vehicles taken was unlocked and none had keys left in them.  This group had the ability to start these vehicles without the keys."

The suspects first stole a white 2006 Chevrolet Malibu with the Missouri license plate ND0R3X, taken from a parking lot at the Association of the Miraculous Medal.  The suspects removed the plates from the Malibu before leaving it at Sonic Drive-In, then put those plates on the Maxima.

The suspects then stole a second vehicle, a silver 2002 Jeep Wrangler with a hard top, bearing MO license 2MDP47.  The Jeep had tinted windows, a luggage rack on the rear of the vehicle, and a LED light bar on the roof.

The Jeep was taken from the rear parking area of Hoeckele’s Bakery and driven next door to Crump’s Auto Sales where the third vehicle — and a trailer — were stolen.

The third vehicle reported stolen is a white Ford F-350 bearing MO license 0UDY46 with an black Hodges flatbed trailer attached.

Surveillance video shows a suspect breaking the window of the truck and a second suspect with a laptop entering the vehicle.  The first suspect then gets into the vehicle and leaves the business.

"We are sharing the license plates of the stolen vehicles as they also seem to be switching plates among the stolen vehicles," said Cain, the department's public information officer. "We ask if you would see a vehicle with any of these license plates, that you contact local law enforcement and pass on the information.”

Cain added that a fourth vehicle in the area was tampered with in an attempt to steal it, but the thieves were unsuccessful.

Anyone with information regarding the thefts is encouraged to contact the Perryville Police Department at 573- 547-4546.
