SV boys place fifth at conference meet

The St. Vincent boys had the best finish of the day of either local teams as they placed fifth at the Jefferson County Athletic Association cross country meet Saturday in Festus.
Junior Gabriel Anders medaled with a time of 18:03.37, good enough for 14th place overall in the race.
Jack Baer followed about one minute behind in 24th place with a time of 19:07.
Jacob Gremaud and Ethan Leible were 20 seconds and four places apart with times of 19:20 and 19:40 respectively. Gremaud finished in 27th place and Leible in 31st overall.
Isaac Hotop wasn’t that far behind his teammates as he finished in 19:47 in 32nd place.
Jackson Unterreiner and Dane Kline finished with times of 20:50 and 21:07 to round out the day for the Indians.
Festus finished first on the boys side as they beat out Hillsboro by nearly 60 points. The Tigers had six of the top ten runners as well as the top three. Festus sophomore Ian Schram finished first with a time of 16:27.
On the girls side for the Indians, Cailyn Prost led the way for 25:16, good enough for 37th place. Gabby Gremaud was close behind with a time of 26:00 for 39th place.
Sophia Martin finished in 26:10 and Monica Sauer finished in 28:42.
On the girls side, De Soto won the race team-wise, while Rita Eimer of St. Pius finished in the top spot individually with the a time of 20:14.
For Perryville, Tegan Bishop led the way for the Lady Pirates with a fourth place finish with a time of 20:51.
That time was over one minute drop from the conference meet one year ago, and a 39 second decrease in her personal best.
Bishop beat out her teammate Courtney Wright who finished fifth with a time of 20:53. That time is a season best for Wright by 32 seconds.

Kira Hagan matched a personal best with a time of 23:18, good for 26th place.
On the boys side, Lucas Smith, finished with a time of 19:18, which is a 60 second drop from 2019. Smith finished 26th overall.
Spencer Maloy finished 43rd with a time of 20:59, which set a new personal record for the junior by eight seconds.
Waylan Krauss finished right behind Maloy, with a time of 21:25, which was more than a two minute drop from 2019.
Ryan Rauh finished with a time of 22:16 which is a new personal record by 32 seconds.
In the junior varsity race, Kyle Steinbecker led the St. Vincent boys by finishing eighth overall with a time 19:37.
Dillon Heine finished 24th with a time of 21:46, while Ethan Buerck followed behind in 31st place with a time of 22:25.
William Brown and Wesly Weibrecht finished three seconds apart with times of 20:50 and 20:53.
For the Perryville JV boys, Ben Rehagan finished 17th overall to lead the Pirates with a time of 21:22, while Garrett Roth with a time of 21:31 for 19th place overall.
Ezekiel Pyle followed at 21:44 for 23rd place, while Mason Zoellner finished in 23:19.
For the Perryville JV girls. Cloey Richardet finished in 14th place with a time of 24:47, while Lillianne Franklin with a time of 25:25.
Keturah Pyland finished with a time of 26:50, good for 22nd place.
Kelcee Popp finished in 29:32 with 32nd place overall to round out the Pirates day.
