There's still time to sign up for the free COVID-19 community testing event scheduled for Saturday. Sept. 19, at City Park in Perryville.

The event, which is being hosted by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and conducted by the Missouri National Guard, will be the third such event to be held in Perry County.

"Community testings have taken place across the state the last several months," said Perry County Health Department assistant director and epidemiologist Liz House. "Locations are determined based on data indicators for the overall county, such as positivity rate, counties seeing a large increases for their population size within a short window of time, etc."

Saturday's free drive-thru event will run from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. and is open to all Missouri residents — regardless of if they are experiencing symptoms — and no doctor’s order is required. There is no fee and no need to present insurance information.

“With our recent increase in cases, this will be a convenient option for many people to access testing, and will also allow us to learn more about the prevalence currently in our community,” said health department director Sylvia Forester.
