Scooters coming to Perryville

A new coffee shop is coming to town. Bart and Keri Vandeven own Scooters Coffee, a coffee shop in Jackson. They are bringing the franchise to Perryville.
“It’s always been a dream of my wife’s to own a coffee shop,” Vandeven said. “We own the one in Jackson and this new one in Perryville is our expansion.”
The construction has already begun on West St. Joseph Street, across the road from Walgreens.
Vandeven believes that it is a great location.
“It’s a great place to build because of all the traffic that goes through there,” he said. “When looking for a location that was probably our number one thing we took into consideration. It’s all about the amount of traffic. Our Jackson location is always busy.”

The Jackson Scooters location offers coffee, espressos, smoothies, along with food. The main difference from Scooters to other coffee places is the fact that they are drive-thru only.
“Drive-thru coffee shops are more of a thing out west, but they are certainly moving this way,” Vandeven said. “It’s a new trend.”
Perryville is already home to Villainous Grounds on the Downtown Square, Vandeven is confident that the two coffee places can coexist.
“I think we will all get along great,” Vandeven said. “They have a good clientele and a good business already. I hope they continue to have that. The people we are hoping to pick up is the kind of person who can’t stop in there and gives them a new place to go.”
Vandeven is excited for the new opportunity and hopes he can provide the residents of Perryville with good coffee and a quick place to go.
“We couldn’t be any happier,” Vandeven said. Perryville is like a second home to us. I used to work in Perryville and it’s like my second home.”
