Kai McDowell was 3-for- 3 at the plate with 2 RBI and 4 runs scored to help lead Saxony Lutheran (12-7) to a 13-2 victory over Delta (3-18) on May 8.
McDowell singled in the second inning, singled in the third, and doubled in the fourth. Zach Roth was 2-for-2 with a double, 5 RBI and 1 run scored.
The Crusaders added to their early lead in the bottom of the second when Isaac Koenig scored after tagging up, and James Hope was hit by a pitch, each scoring one run. In the bottom of the third, Saxony Lutheran added five more as McDowell singled, Korby Engert drew a bases- loaded walk, Isaac Koenig scored after tagging up, Brayden Moore grounded out, scoring one run, and James Hope drew another bases-loaded walk.
James Hope earned the win for Saxony Lutheran after giving up 1 run on 3 hits in 2 2/3 innings, striking out 6 and walking 2. Connor Roth finished the game in relief, giving up 1 run on 1 hit, while striking out 3 and walking 4.
