Sarah Lee Oakes, 89, of Perryville, passed away Thursday, Oct. 29, 2020 at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Perryville.
She was born Aug. 28, 1931, in Humphries County, Tenn. to Benton O. and Myrtle J. (Evans) Watts. She and Oscar Alan Oakes were married Oct. 24, 1954 at the First United Methodist Church in Metropolis, Ill. He preceded her in death on Sept. 14, 2020.
Sarah had been a longstanding active member at Ferguson United Methodist Church where she was involved in the Nursery, Ladies Circles, and Choir. Sarah had been a sales clerk at Famous-Barr Department Stores in the Housewares Department and was a home maker. She was an active member of Perryville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, David A. (Beverly) Oakes of Perryville, Kurt B. (Laura) Oakes of Sunset Hills; six grandchildren, Benjamin (Linnea) Oakes, Christopher (Chelsea) Oakes, Katherine Oakes, Eric (Kristen) Labbe; Melody (Christopher) Plaisance, Grace House; great-granddaughter, Tekla Oakes, 5 other great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Marjorie Loynes of Brookport, Ill. and one brother-in-law Ted Parker of Woodland Hills, Calif.
