Ruth Bertha Petzoldt, 87, of Perryville passed away Monday, Nov. 9, 2020 at Independence Care Center in Perryville.
She was born June 18, 1933 in Gorham, Ill. to Arthur Andrew Ehlers and Lilly Bertha Anna (Fritsche) Ehlers.
She and Milton Pohlmann were married July 31, 1954 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville. He preceded her in death February 12, 1997. She later married Royal Petzoldt on April 10, 2004 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells. He preceded her in death July 9, 2020.
Ruth is a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells, LWML, Ladies Aid, Homemakers Club, Church choir at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville and Trinity Lutheran Church in Freidheim. She was in the Braille Bible Group, was a 4-H leader, sold Stanley Home Products and made blankets for Autism. Ruth loved to dance, play bingo, photography, cake decorating, quilting, enjoyed puzzles and playing 20 point pitch.
Survivors include two daughters, Elaine (Robert) Hoffman of Perryville, and Jackie (Harry) Abbott of Oak Ridge; Son, Jim Pohlman of Perryville; step-son, David Petzoldt; two brothers, John Ehlers, Orville Ehlers; and three sisters, Ruby Chandler, Arleen Pfeiffer and Lilly Gohlston; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by parents; two husbands, Milton Pohlmann and Royal Petzoldt; one brother, Lenord Ehlers; two sisters, Lenora Krieg and infant sister Margaret Ehlers; .
