Rosalie Blanche (Hudson) Grogg age 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on June 22, 2022. She was born June 27, 1938, at her family farm in Brewer, Missouri to Charles and Irene (Huber) Hudson. She married her best friend and love of her life James “Jim” Grogg on April 26, 1958. She went on to spend 64 blessed years with Jim.
Rosalie was preceded in death by her father, Charles Hudson, her mother, Irene Huber, one brother Melvin, one sister Ailene, her maternal grandparents William Lavery and Mary Munn, and her paternal grandparents Robert and Mary Hudson.
Mom loved to embroider and make quilts for her family and friends. Her happy place was any quilt store or fabric shop, she had tubs and tubs of fabric to prove it. Mom would make and donate quilts every year to the St. Vincent’s Annual Parish Picnic and the Kaskaskia Labor Day Parish Picnic. Every fall she would make pounds and pounds of fudge and divinity for everyone. Dad always favored her chocolate chip cookies. Her hands were rarely still, she was always busy taking care of those she loved.
For 22 years Rose worked at Prince Gardener Billfold factory in St. Mary’s Missouri until they closed. She then went to secretarial school and had another 38-year career working at Perry County Memorial Hospital. It suited her servant heart. She said she loved being able to visit with the patients, most she grew up with or attended church with.
