Robert ‘Bob’ Joseph Walter, 88, of Perryville passed away Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Oct. 11, 1932 in Perryville to Gilbert and Clara (Chappius) Walter.
He and Jeanine Postman were married June 16, 1962 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Chester, Ill. She survives in Perryville.
Bob served in the United States Army. He was a safety director at Gilster Mary Lee.
He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Sereno, Holy Name Society and parish counsel.
He was also a member of the Post American Legion Post 133 and the Knights of Columbus.
Bob enjoyed fishing, attending air shows, reading, going to military history museums and was an avid Stag consumer.

Survivors include two sons, Mark (Laura) Walter of Perryville and Michael (Amy) Walter of Steelville, Ill.; two daughters, Christine (Mark) McElvy of Edgar Springs and Kathleen (Tim) Crocker of Salem; one sister, June Flaherty of Overland Park, Kan; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Howard Walter; and one sister, Alice Besand.
Visitation was Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Ford and Young Funeral Home and Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Sereno.
Funeral Mass was Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Sereno with the Rev. Joe Geders C.M. officiating.
Military graveside service was held at Mount Hope Cemetery in Perryville provided by American Legion Post 133 and Delta Team.
Memorial contributions may be given for family use.
