Robert Gene Bachmann, 89, formerly of Frohna, now Columbia, MO, died Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at Boone Hospital Center, Columbia surrounded by his wife, three daughters and their husbands.
He was born August 10, 1932 in Farrar, MO to Rudolph E and Frieda (Miesner) Bachmann. Robert married Darlene Petzoldt on August 10, 1957 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Frohna, MO. They were blessed with 64 years of marriage.
Robert served in the US Army and then attended the University of Missouri-Columbia where he majored in Agricultural Economics. He worked in the banking industry for 36 years and served on several bank boards during that time. Over the years, he was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Wellsville, MO and then Concordia Lutheran Church, Frohna, MO. He was always active in numerous church and community organizations including Lions Club and Gideons International. Being instrumental in the research and making of the video, “From Faith to Faith - a story of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod in Perry County, MO” was very near and dear to his heart. Robert enjoyed fishing, camping, and hosting gatherings of family and friends at their home.
Survivors include three daughters, Becky (Tom) Wieberg of Martinsburg, MO, Joyce (Steve) Gastler of Martinsburg, MO, Carla (Randy) Jokerst of Fenton, MO; brother, Edward (Marilyn) Bachmann of Eureka, MO; sister, Ellen Schultes of Chesterfield, MO; Six grandchildren, Matt Wieberg, Chris Wieberg, Jason (Michelle) Jokerst, Corey Jokerst, Alex Jokerst, and Molly Claire Mays; great-granddaughter, Peyton Jokerst.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Keith Bachmann; brother, Vernon (Mildred) Bachmann; four sisters, Doris (Gordon) Gabbert, Florence (Dan) Neu, Naomi (Hilmer) Schuessler, Ruby (Marvin) Mueller; brother-in-law, Barry Schultes.
