The Bank of Missouri Soccer Complex in Perryville received a bit of renovation of sorts. Members of the Perryville Optimist Soccer Board cleaned up the presentation area in front of the concession stand on Oct. 11.
“We just had a work day and just wanted to do some tidying up of the area in front of the concession stand,” Brandy Balsman, President of the Optimist Soccer Board, said.
About 11 members of the board and their spouses trimmed bushes and trees. They are keeping up the maintenance on the area in preparation for several events coming up in the future. The complex will play host to a youth tournament this upcoming weekend and the Class 2, District 1 tournament later this month.
“We just wanted to make sure everything looked good for everyone that would be here to see it,” Balsman said.

Several overgrown trees were removed and others were trimmed back to look neat.
“We thought that area needed some cleaning up,” Balsman said. “I think it looks better than it has it quite some time.”
There is regular maintenance that takes place on the soccer fields themselves, as well as some tweaking to the soccer programs and tournaments. Balsman said that she believes there will be more workdays in the future.
“There needs to be some improvements to the rock that is there. So that will be next on the list of things to do.” Balsman said.
