PHS Alumni Association cancels Homecoming alumni events

Perryville High School’s Alumni Association has canceled its all-alumni events for Homecoming 2020.

Alumni classes celebrating reunions will still host those events, which are private and held off-campus. If you are celebrating an anniversary year, please contact your class representatives for details.

The PHS homecoming parade and the all-alumni reception have been canceled, as have many other community events and parades that draw large crowds. This aligns with the Perry County Health Department’s Moderate Alert Level, and the mission of the Association.

“We realize that Homecoming is a treasured tradition,” said Linda Buerck, vice president of the PHS Alumni Association. “We hope that it’s safe to hold the alumni events again next year but, for now, the best way we as alumni can support our alma mater is to support the safety measures in place to protect our students and community.”

The high school still plans to hold the annual Homecoming football game at 1 pm on Saturday, Oct. 24, but tickets will be available only to students and families involved. The high school is still considering how it can safely host other student homecoming events.
