Perryville JV track wins JCAA Conference meet

The Perryville High School junior varsity track team walked away with a conference championship last week.
The junior varsity boys finished first to claim the Jefferson County Athletic Association Conference title on April 29-30.
The boys placed in every event except for the 800 and had multiple athletes place in several events.
The Pirates scored a total of 155 points to Windsor’s 105 and Herculaneum’s 102.
Sophomore Tyler Rhyne was the most accomplished Perryville athlete in the meet, as he finished first in three events.
Rhyne took first in the 100-meter dash, the 200 meter dash and 400-meter run with times of 11.74 seconds, 23.91, and 55.61 respectively. Caden Litterst wasn’t far behind in any of those events, as he finished second in the 100-meter, third in the 400-meter and eighth in the 200 meter run.
Rhyne also took fifth in the long jump (17-6 1/4).

Sophomore Dominic Mahathath was also successful in his events garnering a first place finish in the high jump (6-0) and triple jump (40-10 1/2) and second in the long jump (18-9 1/2).
Sophomore Jacob Lyerla was second in the discus (109-9 1/2) and fifth in the shot put (33-11 1/2).
Ethan Huber took second in the shot (35-0 3/4) and third in the discus throw (98-4 3/4).
The Pirate relay teams turned in respectable finishes. Mason Zoellner, Zeke Pyland, Garrett Roth and Lucas Robinson took third in the 4x800 (10:43.35).
Hunter Hill, Litterst, Mahathath and Zeke Pyland took fourth in the 4x400 (4:25.50). Bennett Broeking, Caleb Bourbon, Lucas Robinson and Travis Gowin took fifth in the 4x200 (1:58.13).
Pyland and Hill, Wilkerson and Robinson also did well individually, placing in several events. Hill took fourth in pole vault (9-5 3/4), while Pyland finished fourth in the 110 hurdles (22.81) and fifth in the 300 hurdles (53.30).
Wilkerson took fifth in pole vault (8-11 3/4), seventh in the triple jump (33-1 1/4) and eighth in the high jump (5-1 3/4). Robinson took fifth place in the javelin (107-7).
The JV girls also had a nice team finish as they placed third.
