Perry County’s active number of COVID-19 cases doubled in the past week - increasing from four to eight - from March 29 to April 5 - but it still remains in single digits, according to Liz House, assistant director of the Perry County Health Department.
This brings the county’s seven-day rolling average 1.5. It has remained at one or more since March 31.
“Vaccine supplies have increased some,” said Sylvia Forester, director of the Perry County Health Department. “This is accompanied with additional State Vaccine Phases opening up has allowed opportunities for more individuals to get vaccinated.”
Friday, April 9, the state of Missouri’s final phase, Phase 3, opens allowing anyone in the general population to receive the COVID vaccine, with age limits still applying accordingly.

The county’s next scheduled vaccination clinic specifically for COVID-19 will be Thursday, April 8, at Trinity Lutheran School in Altenburg.
As of Monday, there are still appointments available. At this clinic we are vaccinating those in Phase 1 and 2 of the State’s Vaccine Plan.
Earlier this month, the health department began offering vaccinations at businesses.
“Last week, we began advertising opportunities for local businesses to partner with the Health Department to provide COVID vaccine for their employees at a time and place that best accommodates them,” Forester said. “We have had multiple employers already reach out to us. We are excited for these continued partnerships to further protect Perry County and its workforce.”
