Perry County harvests 102 deer during alternative methods season

Preliminary data from the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) shows that deer hunters in Missouri harvested 8,599 deer during the alternative methods portion of the firearms deer season, Dec. 24 – Jan. 3. Top harvest counties were Franklin with 200 deer harvested, Harrison with 186, and Macon with 162.
The harvest total for last year’s alternative methods portion was 10,038.
In Perry County, there were 102 deer harvested, including 67 doe, 21 bucks, and 14 button bucks.
In surrounding counties such as Ste. Genevieve there were 75 deer harvested, including 51 doe, 17 bucks, and 7 button bucks.
Bollinger County outpaced both counties with 118 deer harvested including 77 doe, 25 bucks, and 16 button bucks.
Last year there was 115 deer harvested in Perry County.
The archery deer and turkey season runs through Jan. 15.
