Jerry Fulton was named the JCAA Conference Soccer Coach of the Year. The Pirates went 5-0 in the conference and outscored opponents 28-0 in conference games. “This is one of the best parts of my job,” Assistant Superintendent Jeanie White said. “We understand what it means to be both a student and athlete at Perryville and appreciate everything they do.” The board discussed the upcoming Comprehensive School Improvement Plan process. Superintendent Andy Comstock recommended that the CSIP committee include the administrative team, board members, Missouri Model District staff members, one parent from each building, and for each board member to invite a member of the community. In his monthly superintendent’s report, Superintendent Andy Comstock reported that the job site trailer has been placed at the middle school construction site, materials should be delivered in the next few weeks and a meeting has been set with contractors to discuss schedules and traffic concerns. The community outreach program, Coffee on Campus, has not had the expected attendance. Communications director Kate Martin has suggested a monthly video update. The budget analysis showed lower December tax payment, which should be made up in January. Comstock reviewed important dates for the board: Filing for the three open seats on the school board closes at 5 pm January 21. Incumbents Jamie Robinson and Nancy Voelker have filed, along with Ashley Geringer. Make-up days are Jan. 20, Feb. 17, March 6 and April 8. The final thing on the agenda was the Federal Programs evaluation was presented by Assistant Superintendent Jeanie White and Title 1 instructors Amanda Grein, Megan Roth, Laura Heise, Tracey Schlichting and Christine Friedman. Through the Title 1 programs at District 32, 217 students in Grades K-5 are currently being serviced based on eligibility profiles. These services include small group guided reading instruction, reteaching supports in math and reading; and pull-out groups. This is about 25 percent of the K-5 student population. “The goal is that all our students that need this program are able to use to improve their reading skills,” White said. “But the reality is that there are some that are truly identified and need the services in a more intimate way, which is that intervention process.” The next board meeting is Wednesday, Feb. 12 in Room 105 of the Central Office beginning at 7 p.m.
