Paul B. “Doc” Schroeder, 89, of Perryville passed away Saturday, Aug. 21, 2021 at his residence in Perryville.
He was born Nov. 24, 1931 in Perryville to William J. and Anna A. (Kirn) Schroeder. He and Diana K. Gegg were married November 5, 1966. She preceded him in death on Sept. 22, 2018.
Doc’s general nature was to fix things, which fed his curiosity of how things worked. He started out servicing TVs, which led to a job with “Guyot & Ernst” as an electrician. After that, he serviced appliances with Robinson Electric Co. He finally retired from maintenance work after many years with Gilster Mary-Lee. On the side, he was also owner/operator of “The Wash Tub” laundromat in downtown Perryville for 24 years. Away from work, he enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, tending his apple orchard and his many gardens.
Doc was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus Third Degree Council 1263, and American Legion Post 133. He was a dedicated volunteer at St. Vincent Thrift Store and was a US Air Force Veteran.
Survivors include one son, Timothy (Faith) Schroeder of Manchester; one daughter, Trina (Larry) Schroeder-Brewer of Perryville; one sister-in-law, Faye Schroeder of Perryville; three grandchildren, Brandie (Eric) Morgan, Jacob LaMar (fiancee Amanda Krull) and Ethan Schroeder; two great-grandsons, Rilaynd Graham and Kai Wilson and one great-granddaughter, Rayven Morgan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Rudy “Bud” Schroeder and Leroy “Skeeter” and Doris Schroeder.
Friends may call at Ford and Young Funeral Home in Perryville on Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021 from 4-8 p.m. and on Friday, Aug. 27 from 8 -9:30 am. Rosary will be recited at 8:15 a.m.
Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 27, 2021 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville with the Rev. Ben Melaku CM officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Perryville with Military graveside honors provided by American Legion Post 133 and US Air Force Honors Team.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Vincent Schools or Masses.
