Opal Emma Mahnken, 93, of Farrar, died Sunday, August 7, 2022 at Independence Care Center in Perryville.
She was born October 4, 1928 in Farrar to Theodor and Hilda Verseman Steffens.
She and Leonard Mahnken were married September 28, 1948 at Salem Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on May 7, 1988.
Opal was a lifelong member of Salem Lutheran Church, an avid quilter, gardener, and Cardinal fan, and a member of Salem Ladies Aid, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, Altar Guild, and Church Choir.
Survivors include one brother, Cletus Steffens of Farrar; four daughters, Janice Mahnken of Altenburg, Maxine (David) Theiss of Farrar, Jolene (Steve) Pohlman of Apple Creek, Dana (Roy Jr.) Pohlman of Apple Creek; three sons, Dewain Mahnken of Percy, IL, Steve (Sara) Mahnken of Longtown, James Mahnken of Farrar; daughter-in-law, Donna Mahnken; grandchildren, Jason, Jared, Benjamin, and Derek Theiss, Chad, Dylan, Eric, and Emma Mahnken, Alicea Legrand, Kaitlyn Wills, Kirsti Schremp, Whitney Hemman, Jacob Pohlman, Amanda Klaus, and Brad Mahnken and 16 great-grandchildren.
