Myrtle V. Kuehnert, 94, of Altenburg, Missouri passed into the Saviors loving arms Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born at home Oct. 7, 1926 on the Schilling family farm near Altenburg to Rudolph and Clara (Loebs) Schilling, the oldest of seven children.
On April 6, 1947, Easter Sunday, she married O. Ernest Kuehnert at Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg. He died Oct. 25, 1994.
To this union four daughters were born, Carmen, Barbara, Colleen and Carolyn.
Myrtle had a deep love and trust in the Lord and was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg, a member of LWML, a Sunday School teacher and began a tape ministry to Shut-Ins. She had a servants heart, always willing to help those in need, sending cards, food and visiting Shut-Ins. She valued education and because of being needed at home at a young age, was able to earn her GED in later years. She instilled this love of learning in her children and grandchildren. She loved gardening, watching birds and tending flowers, but most of all spending time with family and friends. For many years she was a member of “The Bucket Brigade” doing housekeeping for several Cape Girardeau families who became part of her extended family.
Survivors include four daughters, Carmen (John) Bramstedt of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisc., Barbara (Richard) Seibel of Altenburg, Colleen (Vaughn) Steffens of Frohna and Carolyn (Tim) Wandling of Arnold; two brothers, Melvin (Mary) Schilling of Frohna and Harry (Deb) Schilling of Jackson; a sister, Lorene (Leonard) Haertling of Nashville; eight grandchildren, Jeff (Robin) Bramstedt of San Diego, Seth Bramstedt of Altenburg, Robyn (Todd) Bess of Marquand, Holly (Andy) Brewer of Perryville, Luke (Megan) Seibel of Milford, Neb., Angela (Brad) Sutterer of St. Louis, John (Sara) Steffens of Frohna and Bethany (Brandon) Davis of Jackson; two step- grandchildren, Heather McKire and Samantha Wandling; 15 great-grandchildren, Micah, Sam, Annie, Adrian, Christian, Cayden, Madison, Trevor, Kailey, Landon, Harper, Havyn, Macy, Isabella and Clara and two great-grandsons, expected later this year; eight step-great-grandchildren, Colin, Hailey, Helen, Heidi, Ronyanne, Ke’von, Maurice III and Maursamuel; and three great-great-grandchildren, Cameron, Shiloh and Reign.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a sister, Lillian Fiehler; and two brothers, Leonard and Raymond Schilling.
Visitation was Sunday, July 18, 2021 and Monday, July 19, 20201 at Ford & Young East Perry Chapel in Altenburg.
A funeral service was held Monday, July 19, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg with the Rev. Steven Dressler and the Rev. Matthew Schilling co-officiating.
Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Altenburg.
