Linda S. Caldwell

Linda Sue Caldwell, 67, passed away May 29, 2021. Linda was born in Perryville on June 28, 1953. She is survived by her husband, Dwight; her daughter, Jennifer; and five grandchildren: Trinity, Noah, Mattalin, Annabella and Benjamin. She was preceded in death by her mother, Anna, and her father, Lawrence; also, a brother, Roy.
Linda’s life was full and varied. She chose her career path early and focused her efforts in Education and Counseling.
As she gained expertise, she advanced to more important tasks. She continued elevating her education: gaining a Bachelor of Science in 1974, an in 1980 and her Ph.D. in 1992.
She excelled as a Professor in the classroom and provided leadership, counseling and guidance to students and those she supervised. Over the course of her education career, she served as Department Chair and Director for many fields of study. She gained many national certifications and presided over several national organizations.

She was consistently knowledgeable, intelligent, funny, considerate and easy to work with.
In the meantime, Linda chose to augment her full-time career in education by joining the U.S. Naval Reserve in 1988 as an ensign. Her leadership, adventurous nature and love of country made her an excellent fit for the Naval Service and she rose rapidly in ranks to Commander.
Her work ethic and capabilities caused her to be requested for important billets all over the world including the far East, Europe, the U.S.A. and others. Linda retired from the U.S. Naval Reserve in 2018 after 25 valuable years, and that same year, retired from her education career to become a full-time grandmother.
The family is requesting that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
