Letter to the Editor: Writer prefers boring president over chaotic

To the Editor:
I got a rude shock recently when my niece, with whom I’ve always had a very friendly relationship, hung up on me. The reason? I wouldn’t agree with her that Joe Biden started the war in Ukraine, and “all those other wars.” She must be overdosing on Tucker Carlson. After the chaos of the Trump administration, I would think most people would feel at least somewhat relieved to have normalcy and dignity returned to the Oval Office. Instead, many Republicans are directing a barrage of mean-spirited criticism of Biden, depicting him as a bumbling senile old man whose every slip of the tongue or awkward move, which in anyone else would pass unnoticed, as proof. They blame him for everything from inflation, which any president has very little control over, to gas prices, (same thing.}
There are many reasons we should be glad that Biden, not Trump is in office. First, Biden doesn’t cozy up to tyrants like Trump did at Helsinki when he proclaimed to the world that he believed Putin over all our intelligence agencies about Russian interference in the 2016 elections. And there was the time Trump announced he and Kim Jong Un had exchanged letters, threw his arms wide and fatuously proclaimed, “We fell in love!”
Biden tries to strengthen NATO, not weaken it. He is not narcissistic or ego driven. He does not conduct national or foreign policies by his “gut” as Trump did, who actually said his gut gives him better advice than most people’s brains do. Biden has never tried to buy Greenland or any other country.
Also, Biden doesn’tt act like a sixth grade bully on the playground, taunting his opponents
{anyone who disagrees with him} and calling them childish names. He does not denigrate people because of their race, ethnicity, religious beliefs or other ways in which they differ from him.

We don’t have to worry that he’ll start a nuclear , or any war, in a fit of temper..
He does not use the US attorney general as his personal gofer.
The list could go on and on. Leslie Graham once said “Joe Biden is one of the finest souls God ever put on this earth.” While of course people may disagree with his policies, it’s time they respected him for the honorable person he is. who brought dignity back to the Oval Office.
Some say he is boring, but I’ll take boring over chaos any day.
