Letter to the Editor: Why both a trustees’ and directors’ board?

Posted

To the Editor:
I’ve been following with interest the Republic-Monitor’s thorough coverage of the PCMH/Partnership story. Mr. Frank Robinson is to be greatly admired for stepping forward and showing outstanding leadership. The Perry County community is very fortunate to have someone of his caliber.
Is PCMH’s biggest problem its awkward, clumsy organizational structure? What is the difference between Perry County Memorial Hospital and Perry County Health System? If it’s one and the same, then why the two names for the same entity? Why a Board of Trustees and a Board of Directors? Who is actually in charge? The Presiding Commissioner should have a seat at the table and attend every meeting. That would prevent surprising developments such as the PCMH/Partnership story.
Hopefully, Mr. Robinson and the Perry County Commissioners will make this its ultimate objective, a ‘streamlined PCMH’.
