Letter to the Editor: We need to all be more grateful

People should be more grateful. We live in a country where you can worship any God you want to. You can attend any church you want to. You have the freedom to not attend any church at all. Churches can say whatever they want without having to pay any taxes to the government that gives them that freedom.
People should be grateful that after two long years of COVID, you can go almost anywhere without being asked to wear a mask. For those who oppose vaccine requirements, only a very small percentage of businesses are requiring their workers to be vaccinated. Our economy added roughly 750,000 jobs in February and 430,000 jobs in March, giving non-vaccinated workers plenty of job options. Businesses now have the freedom to require masks if they wish as opposed to being forced to require them. People are now being given the freedom to decide how much risk they want to take regarding COVID.

People should be grateful that we don’t have a nuclear armed power invading our country, destroying our infrastructure, and slaughtering thousands of civilians. We should be grateful that there are no chemical agents being spread over us or missiles destroying our homes. We should be grateful that we don’t have to find our neighbors dead in the streets, with their hands tied behind their backs. We should be grateful that there are democracies that are willing to stand up and fight against tyrannical oppression, even when the odds seemed insurmountable at first.
