Letter to the Editor: Vaccines

Posted

To the Editor,
By now, a lot of us know at least one person or more who got COVID even though they were vaccinated. So why get the vaccine at all? Even though none of the COVID vaccines can totally protect against infection, they will prevent more infections then having no vaccine at all. Those who are vaccinated are also at a much lower risk of developing severe illness or prolonged side effects, including death. What about side effects from the vaccine? Most of the theories about vaccine side effects have been shown to be completely false.
For instance, millions of shots have been given in the U.S., yet there has been no widespread evidence (or any at all) of the vaccines affecting fertility, pregnancy, long-term health, or other bodily functions. The Omicron variant has been considerably less severe, yet still the majority of hospitalizations and deaths are from those who are unvaccinated.

Contracting any of the COVID variants is infinitely more dangerous than any side effects from a fully approved and tested vaccine. With antibody treatments and antiviral pills available, why get a vaccine? The vaccines do not carry the risk of severe side effects like these treatments. The vaccines are much cheaper than these treatments.
The vaccines have been tested much longer than these treatments. What kind of person would willing expose their body to a virus, when you could take the simple step of protecting yourself and others? What do you think Jesus would want you to do?
