Letter to the Editor: Thanks to the Artists

Posted

Dear Editor,
Hey all you readers out there, have you looked around town lately? Stop and see the beauty of all the new murals on our business places.
The scenes take us through the years, depicting children eating ice cream at Pevely’s Restaurant on St. Joseph St., an old car coming up the street with a GTO in the foreground, our beautiful courthouse, the old “bey” window out front with our beautiful flag draped on the front edges and the eagle flying, a symbol of our freedom. Another scene on St. Marie St., depicting the old Houck railroad of long ago, and many other murals around our city.
Our city will be known as the city of beautiful murals and the city that smells good and tastes good with the cake factory and Hoeckele’s Bakery, also MJ’s. Thanks to all the artists who created and painted the scenes of memory, beauty and color.
We end with a quote: “Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire.” — St. Catherine of Sienna.
