Letter to the Editor: Residents wants city to bring back curbs

To the Editor:
Perryville just finished putting concrete street on N. Parkview. They wanted to put in a sidewalk. The property owners did not want a sidewalk. After a meeting with the city, it was agreed no sidewalk at this time. I have a letter stating that. Now as a homeowner I did not think that I would be punished for not wanting a sidewalk. But take a walk down N. Parkview and look at the curbs. They no longer exist. They cut them away. I asked one of them why. The answer was we may put in a sidewalk in the next 10 years. Does this seem like a good answer to anyone? If a sidewalk is not going to be put in don’t you think the curb should be left alone. Common sense should tell you when it rains water runs down to the end of the street and around the curb to the drain. With no curb the water runs into the home owners property. Yes I do feel like I am being punished for not wanting a sidewalk. Is this the kind of intelligence we can expect from our elected officials? In closing I am asking for our curbs to be put back in.
