Letter to the Editor: Mercy is the best option

Posted

To the Editor:
For more than twenty years, I’ve been proud and humbled to serve on the Perry County Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees. Along with my fellow members, we spend many hours listening and learning from the dedicated men and women in the hospital administration and the people who care for you – the physicians, nurses, and other amazing healthcare staff. They spend their days and nights ensuring patients are cared for and that our hospital runs effectively and efficiently. I am confident that most residents of Perry County trust the hospital administration, the boards, and the people who care for all of us when we are ill. Unfortunately, there are some who no matter what facts or explanations are given, they refuse to see reason.
Thank you to those of you in our community who continue to be open to the idea that we can be better in the future with the right affiliate partner. Other health systems also understand the many benefits of partnerships as well.

But when it comes to Perry County, those individuals who spend their time working at the hospital and caring for patients, and those of us who volunteer our free time serving on boards, are confident that moving forward with Mercy is the best option for the future of healthcare in our community. Thank you for your continued trust in this process.
