Letter to the Editor: Get the vaccine

Posted

To the Editor:

In this letter, I am encouraging anyone who is eligible to receive the Covid vaccine to receive the vaccine as soon as possible. Covid is a very strange disease, and it affects everyone differently. I personally know that the long-term effects can change your life dramatically, and not in a good way. I am concerned about the long-term effects—years from now.
Our hospitals are full of Covid cases and some events are super spreaders. Our health care workers have been phenomenally brave and unselfish, but they are wearing down, and fewer are available. We need to work together as a team and encourage each other to become vaccinated. Particularly, the young adults need encouragement and understanding.
Robinson Construction has taken a position of recommending and rewarding everyone who becomes vaccinated. Some of our customers are requiring all workers at their sites, be vaccinated. This requirement has major impact on how our company is managed.

The Perry County Community Foundation agreed at our last meeting to promote vaccination of anyone eligible. The Community Foundation of the Ozarks has competition among its members to increase the percentage of people vaccinated in individual counties.
Timing is important, and the sooner that we have adequate vaccinations, the more lives will be saved. Perry County is a great place to live. Let’s work together to keep it great!
