Dear Editor
I’m not much of a Trump supporter. However, I’m still astounded by what he and 75 million voters accomplished on the fifth of November 2024.
So let it be. Let President Trump sign an executive order on the Fourth of July directing the government to oversee, within the next 14 years, the design and construction of a new monument in Washington, D.C. The monument would honor Mr. Donald J. Trump as America’s 45th and 47th president.
In the 250 years of America’s history, only one other person, President Grover Cleveland (1894), has served as president for four years and then, a few years later, been reelected for another four years as president. Both President Cleveland’s and President Trump’s names would be engraved on this monument, as well as the names of all future American presidents who repeat what these two men achieved.
Napoleon Bonaparte, emperor of France (1804), had the Arc de Triomphe erected in his honor. The Trump monument could be of similar design and known as the Arc de Trump — or the Trump Arch. In 1876,
11 years before France started construction of the Eiffel Tower, it gave America the Statue of Liberty for its 100th birthday. America celebrates its 250th birthday next year on the Fourth of July.
Will France reaffirm our close friendship with another birthday present? In a munificent burst of “joie de vivre” (living joyfully), will France offer to pay for the Arc de Trump?
