James “Jim” M. Sutterer, 86, of Perryville passed away Tuesday, Nov.24, 2020, at Independence Care Center in Perryville.
He was born September 12, 1934 in Perryville to Eloy L. and Iola L. (Moll) Sutterer.
He and Jeanette D. Esselman were married April 30, 1955 at the Church of the Assumption.
Jim was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church , American Legion Post 133, and a 1952 graduate of St. Vincent High School. He began his military service in the US Naval Reserve, then he enlisted and served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. After he came home, he served in the US Army Reserve. Jim was a bookkeeper at Premier Panel in McBride. Then he was a city letter carrier in Perryville for the US Postal Service. Lastly, Jim was owner/operator of Sutterer Electric.
Survivors include five sons and one daughter, Steve (Sandy) Sutterer of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Kevin (Kathy) Sutterer of Terre Haute, Ind., Tim (Karen) Sutterer of Jackson, Jeff (Karen) Sutterer of Perryville, daughter, Jane (Steve) Narrow of Perryville and Eric (Lori) Sutterer of Perryville; brother, Gerald ‘Jerry’ (Velda) Sutterer of Perryville; sister, Suzanne ‘Sue’ Gabriel of Chesterfield; sister-in-law, Geraldine ‘Gerry’ Sutterer of Perryville; 19 grandchildren, Matthew Sutterer, Amy (Nathan) VanderHorn, Tiffany (Jordan) Schier, Kimberly (Thomas) Freeman, Brian (Elizabeth) Sutterer, Jonathan Sutterer, Amanda (Tim) Root, Sarah (Steve) Lentz, Austin (Renee) Sutterer, Derek (Kellie) Sutterer, Megan Sutterer, Kristen Sutterer, Kyle Bert, Ryan (Jackie) Bert, Kelsey Bert, Megan (Luke) Seibel, Tim Narrow, Robbie (Maureen) Narrow, and Katelyn Sutterer and 18 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Thomas ‘Tom’ Sutterer and Michael ‘Mike’ Sutterer; brother-in-law, Steve Gabriel; and sister-in-law, Theresa Sutterer.
Mandatory masks are required.

Visitation will be 9:30-11:15 am on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2020 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville.
Mass will be at 11:30 am Saturday, Nov. 28, 2020 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville with the Rev. Rich Wehrmeyer C.M. officiating.
Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Perryville.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Vincent de Paul Society, Ladies of Charity, Birthright, Masses, or Association of the Miraculous Medal .
