The House Citizens Redistricting Commission voted and passed a bipartisan redistricting map Wednesday, Jan. 19. Both the Democrat and Republican commissioners worked together over the last six months to achieve fair and representative maps.

In the new map, Perry and Ste. Genevieve counties are combined into the 145th district. The new district is bordered by the 115th district (De Soto) to the north, the 117th district (Park Hills) to the northwest, the 116th district (Farmington, Fredrickton) to the west, the 144th district to the southwest (Sedgewickville, Marquand, Centerville, Ellington) to the southwest and the 146th district to the south (Cape Girardeau County, city of Jackson).

“We are encouraged by the bipartisan work this commission has completed. Today, we voted on a plan unanimously – that means 10 Republicans and 10 Democrats voted on the same map. When these commissions were announced, few people expected an agreement, let alone a positive outcome. As Democrats, we stood strong on our values of transparency and public input from the beginning. To see an agreement come together means that public input wasn’t wasted and that two sides were able to connect for the future of Missouri,” said House Commission Co-Chair Keena Smith.

The Senate Citizens Redistricting Commission has yet to vote on a map and have until Jan. 23 to do so before a panel of judges is appointed on or near Jan. 30.
