Holiday tribute show scheduled for Friday

Local residents seeking a chance to kick off the holiday season with a bit of rock and roll will get their chance Friday, when area band LivinTale presents its ninth annual Trans-Siberian Orchestra tribute show at the Perry Park Center. According to organizer and band leader Mark Meyer, this year marks the ninth for the show, which he describes as an experience “not seen anywhere in the surrounding area.” “We do this in order to get people into the Christmas spirit while at the same time spreading some artistic culture,” Meyer said. Tickets for the show, which is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Friday at the Perry Park Center, are $20 each and may be purchased in advance at Villainous Grounds, located on the Jackson Street side of the downtown square in Perryville, until 4 p.m. the day of the show. Tickets will also be available at the door. According to Meyer, LivinTale, which most recently performed in Perryville during the Rocktoberfest celebration, is “a musical group devoted to encapsulating hard rock, classical, theater, dance, all within a visual and sound composition.” The band’s expanded lineup for Friday’s show is comprised of Meyer on lead guitar and vocals, Michael Ruch on drums, Josh Yantis on rhythm guitar, Matt Watts on bass, and Meredith Kessler on keyboards, along with Julia Diaz and Carly Green on additional vocals. John Darren will serve as narrator. The SEMO Sundancers out Cape Girardeau, led by Tatianna Parham, will also be featured during the show. The group consists of Lexi Bergschneider, McKenzie Korhorn, Lindsey Grief, Grace Moore, Rachel Kimminau, Belle Halfhill, Meghan Isenman, Ravyn Schriewer, Megan Walker, Ashton Pleimann, Kaitlyn Bonano, Arielle Adams, Hannah Scott, Kaylee Stoner, Tierra Thompson, and Olivia Lacy. Meyer also stressed that in the spirit of the holiday and a desire to make the show accessible to all area residents, the band will also offer special rates for mentally disabled and senior residents in the area, offering tickets at half price. “We know that certain residents of facilities like to attend school plays and theater showings at the Park Center,” Meyer said, “so it would be wonderful if they could experience a live rock show with classical elements involved.” Meyer also said that, although this is the ninth year for the tribute show, previous attendees won’t see the same show. “Many people have witnessed the show in the past but the group continues to add to the entire production,” Meyer said.
