Higher Education center plans open house

An open house at the Perryville Higher Education Center will be held Tuesday, July 20, from noon until 6 p.m. Former directors of the Center, Mary Bauwens and Sally Werner, will be on hand to give tours of the building, answer questions, enroll students and help new students with the admissions process. Interested students, along with parents and grandparents, are encouraged to attend the Open House.
The Higher Education Center is located at 108 South Progress, behind Sonic. The Perry County Military History Museum and the Perry County Historical Society office, both located at the Higher Education Center, will also be open during the July 20 event.
The fall semester for Mineral Area College begins on Monday, Aug. 23.

It is not too late to apply and enroll in classes for the fall semester. The Perryville Higher Education Center offers MAC students the general education classes required for an Associates Degree. Online classes are also available to students. Visiting students seeking degrees at other colleges are also welcome to take classes through Mineral Area College.
“The Perryville Higher Education Center is a wonderful asset to our community,” Werner said. “Students, both non-traditional and traditional aged, can stay home, continue with their jobs and earn a college degree without driving a long distance. We hope individuals will take advantage of the higher education opportunities available in Perryville.”
Those with questions are encouraged to call the office at 573-547-4143 for assistance.
