Health department reports seven new COVID-19 cases

The Perry County Health Department reported seven new cases of COVID-19, as of May 23. The new total brings the county’s seven-day rolling average to 1.0.
Perry County’s positivity rate is at 5.1 percent, according to the state’s COVID-19 dashboard. This is down from 6.9 percent the previous week.
The state’s data also has information regarding positive cases at public school districts.
Perry County School District No. 32 reported a cumulative 236 positive cases of COVID-19 for those ages 5-19 from March 1, 2020 through early May. A range of 1-10 positive cases were reported in the past 14 days.

Statewide, there have been 72 school districts that have not reported a case of COVID-19 since the pandemic began, according to the state’s COVID dashboard. Altenburg Public School District No. 48 is among the 72 with no reported cases.
In terms of positivity rate statewide, the county figure of 4.24 per 100,000 is 46th among Missouri’s 117 counties.
Livington (21.35 cases per 100,000 residents) and Linn (20.93 cases per 100,000 residents) counties are the top in the state in terms of positivity rate, followed by Shelby County (18.75 cases per 100,000 residents). Five Missouri counties in the past week reported at least one death due to COVID-19.
Perry County has had a reported 30 deaths from COVID-19 since the pandemic began. In terms of deaths per 100,000, the county is 56th overall with a rate of 156.8 deaths.
