Garden Club attendees hear ‘Everything Berries’ presentation

The Perryville Garden Club met at the Catalyst Center for Business on Wednesday, May 19.
Ruth Brown, President, welcomed members and guests. The pledge of allegiance was recited and the hostesses provided a meal.
Roll call was answered by naming a flower that began with the same letter as your first name. Followup discussion was held regarding the successful Mayfest Plant Sale on May 6 & 7. Garden Club Cookbooks are still available for purchase for $20. Several upcoming field trips were announced. Information regarding these are on the Garden Club Facebook page or by contacting an officer.
Ruth then introduced a speaker for the evening, Katie Kammler, from the University of Missouri Extension Center. Kammler presented a program titled ‘Everything Berries.”

She provided information regarding the different varieties of strawberries, blackberries, raspberries and blueberries.
“Katie explained how to prepare the soil, grow, mulch, fertilize, and control pests for these different plants,” said Doris Erlacker, of the Garden Club.
The club will hold its next meeting is Wednesday, Aug. 24, at Port Perry.
The meeting then adjourned with attendance prizes.
