Donald Walter Verseman, 88, of Perryville passed away Monday, Nov. 15, 2021 at Independence Care Center of Perry County.
He was born June 3, 1933 in Farrar to Walter and Esther (Lorenz) Verseman.
He and Doris M. (Ruehling) Verseman were married on Oct. 23, 1954 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg.
Donald worked at Gilster Mary Lee as a mixer. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville. Don was an avid hunter of coon, deer, turkey and small game. He coached baseball for years, played softball and enjoyed bowling, dancing and corny jokes. Don and Doris spent lots of time camping. He worked with the Laborer’s for Christ.
Survivors include two sons, David (Mary) Verseman of Chester, Darren (Susan) Verseman of Perryville; daughter, Denise (James) Steffens of Perryville; two brothers, Dennis (Kathy) Verseman of Canton, Mich., Alan Verseman of Frohna; sister, Charlotte Krauss of Perryville; brother-in-law, Edgar Roth of Perryville; eight grandchildren, Amy (Jacob) Maier, Michael (Megan) Verseman, Kara (Josh) Meyer, Travis (Carrie) Steffens, Hannah (Chris) Sweeney, Kathryn Verseman, Jacklyn Verseman and Sophie Verseman, great-grandchildren, 14.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Betty Roth; daughter -in-law, Verlene Verseman; sister-in-law, Linda Verseman and brother-in-Law, Howard Krauss, Jr.

Visitation will be on Friday, Nov. 19, 2021 from 4-8 pm at Ford & Young Funeral Home and on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021 from 8-10 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville.
Funeral service will be on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021 at 10 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville with Rev. Matthew Marks officiating.
Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Perryville.
Memorial contributions may be given to Immanuel Lutheran School, Saxony High School or Crown Hospice.
