Donald “Joe” L. Layton, 71, of Perryville died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2021 at Southeast Health in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Nov. 16, 1950 in Perryville to William L. Layton and Rosemary Gibbar Layton.
He was formerly married to the mother of his children, Janet Murray, who survives in Perryville.
He was a past member of the Eagles and the Amvets. He enjoyed hunting, the outdoors, and socializing with friends and family. He retired from General Motors then later retired from T.G. U.S.A.
Survivors include special friend Priscilla Fonsceca, daughter, Tracy (Jimmy) Miller of Perryville; two sons, Tobey (Amanda) Layton of Silver Lake, Tim Layton (Dawn Joyner) of Old Appleton; two sisters, Rosalie (Ronald) Zoellner of Maryland Heights, Carole Ann Lukefahr of Highland; grandchildren, Dustin Morris, Maranda Morris and fiancé Jeremiah Owens, Jessalyn (Trevor) Hemmann, Ethan (Faith) Layton, Hannah Layton and fiancé Derrick Roberts, Cameron Layton, and Triston Layton; great-grandchildren Brooklyn Morris, Malie Morris, Drake Morris, and Gib Layton. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
