DHSS issues more licenses

Four businesses listing Perryville addresses applied for a state license for medical marijuana cultivation last year, and when the licenses were awarded, only one was denied. That business — Holistic Health Capital, LLC — also applied for a manufacturing license. On Friday, it was listed among the 86 applications approved by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. The license permits manufacturing of products infused with marijuana or an extract and are intended for use or consumption by a means other than smoking. This can include but is not limited to edible products, ointments, tinctures and concentrates. According to a news release from DHSS, the 86 facilities being licensed are the top-scoring manufacturing facilities that met all eligibility requirements as prescribed by the program rules. The four businesses — which also include Focus Partners-Perryville LLC; FUJM, LLC; and Archimedes Medical Holdings, LLC — list adjoining addresses on Hwy. B, ranging from 14593 to 14599 State Hwy. B, all near JoAnnn’s Greenhouses, Inc., which is located at 14607 State Hwy. B, just south of Biehle. Despite their street addresses — which would seem to place them in Perry County — county assessment maps show that all four businesses are actually located just across the county line in Cape Girardeau County, as is JoAnn’s Greenhouse. JoAnn’s Greenhouses owner Jerry Buchheit declined to comment at this time, saying he wanted to speak with investors first. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, individuals involved with FUJM and Archimedes Medical Holdings donated at least $15,000 in March to a political action committee raising money for Gov. Mike Parson’s re-election campaign, including $5,000 from Blonie Dudney, a St. Louis eye doctor. Dudney previously told the Post-Dispatch that the investor group comprises five St. Louis-area physicians who are interested in using cannabis to treat illnesses. Elsewhere in southeast Misosuri, DHSS also approved manufacturing licenses for Bootheel CannaCare LLC in Caruthersville and Teal Labs II LLC in Poplar Bluff. The list of those who were not approved for manufacturing licenses included Cresco Labs Missouri LLC in Caruthersville, Green Health LLC in Dexter, Premier Releaf LLC in Hayti, Sanctuary Medicinals of Missouri LLC in Jackson, Green Med LLC in Miner, Ozark Med Manufacturing LLC in Poplar Bluff and Grow 573 LLC in Sikeston. In addition to last month’s approval of cultivation licenses — which also included GF Saint Mary LLC in St. Mary, Organic Remedies MO Inc. in Chaffee, and Bootheel CannaCare — DHSS also approved licenses for approved transportation and testing facilities. Among those approved for transportation services was 5th Meridian Group Inc. of Cape Girardeau and KLN Logistics LLC of Jackson. Friday’s announcement came as one more step in the process for implementing the rollout of medical marijuana in Missouri, a measure that was approved by Missouri voters in November 2018. DHSS said it plans to release a list of approved dispensary locations Jan. 24.
