On Friday, June 4, Congressman Jason Smith toured the facilities at the Gilster-Mary Lee Corporation in Perryville.
With nine locations throughout Missouri and Illinois, Gilster-Mary Lee employs 1,500 Missourians and after 100 years in business, they have grown from a small family-owned business into a leading global food manufacturer.

“You don’t have to look farther than your own kitchen cabinet to see the impact Gilster-Mary Lee has on your daily life. Each and every day 1,500 Missourians go to work and quite literally feed the entire world,” said Rep. Jason Smith. “That’s why it’s so important that the policies coming from Washington need to support and strengthen Main Street Businesses and keep Washington out of Missouri.”
The company produces more than 8,000 items in better than 500 different private label brands, as well as its own Hospitality label. Approximately 3,000 employees work in 13 different manufacturing facilities across three states, including 1,500 from Missouri. The company-owned truck fleet delivers products daily throughout the U.S. and Canada, as well as shipments destined for markets throughout the world.
