Community helping St. Vincent brothers following May 7 accident

Posted

Earlier this month, two St. Vincent High School students sustained serious injuries in a May 7 accident.
Sophomore Isaac Naeger, 16, and freshman Carter Naeger, 15, are brothers and the sons of Roger and Amy (Gremaud) Naeger.
They were airlifted to St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Isaac spent a day in observation and was later discharged. He has a possible torn right rotator cuff and will need physical therapy.
Carter has a “long road to recovery,” said older sister, Brooke Hotop, who has been providing updates on her younger siblings progress.
“Some of Carter’s friends went up on Sunday (May 16) with our family to stand outside of Children’s (Hospital) with signs and we prayed,” said Brooke Hotop. “The school has been very supportive of our family and had a dress down day to raise money for them. They’ve also made T-shirts and the proceeds go towards the boys’ medical bills.
A prayer service was held Saturday, May 8 along with another prayer service on May 10.
“Isaac is doing well and started physical therapy this week,” said Brooke Hotop. “Carter is still in the ICU withdrawing from sedation and we are awaiting his brain MRI results that will be back (May 19). His breathing tube is out and he is on a small amount of oxygen with plans to go to the Neuro Rehab floor possibly today pending on what the team decides when they round this morning.”
The Perryville community is pulling together in support of the family.
