City of Perryville’s revenue shows slight decrease

A look at both the city of Perryville as well as Perry County’s sales tax revenue amounts for January through March shows receipts are up more than 6 percent for the county while the city is showing a drop of about a half percent decrease for the first three months of 2021.
For the city of Perryville, both January and February 2021, the sales tax amounts surpassed the total collected in those months a year ago. January 2021 revenue for sales tax was $138,788.54, up $6,565.14, or about 4.96 percent from the $132,223.40 reported in January 2020. For February 2021, the city received a projected $179,543 in sales tax revenue, which was up $12,231.41, or about 7.31 percent from the February 2020 tally of $167,311.59.
In March 2021, the most recent month for which data is available, the revenue estimate lagged a little from the previous year, at $131,560.44. This was down $21,106.05, or about 13.82 percent from the March 2020 amount of $152,666.49.
Overall, for the first quarter of 2021, the city received $449,891.98, which was down $2,309.50, or about 0.51 percent from the 2020 first quarter figure of $452,201.48.

The sales tax revenue for Perry County for the first quarter was $384,926.70, up $24,001.05, or about 6.65 percent from 2020 total from January through March of $360,925.74.
In a look at the monthly revenue totals, January 2021 was $120,176.73, which was down 1,099.86, or about 0.9 percent. February 2021 was $115,332.88, up $9,593.63, or about 9.07 percent from the February 2020 total of $105,739.25. For March 2021, the revenue total was $149,417.18, up $15,507.28, or about 11.58 percent from the March 2020 total of $133,909.90.
The March 2021 revenue figure was the highest single month total since July 2017, which had a reported revenue amount of $149,736.44.
