Last month, the city of Perryville was notified it had received a special “Leading the Way” award. Tuesday evening, city administrator Brent Buerck presented aldermen and the mayor with the honor.
The “Leading the Way” award was created to recognize local governments for outstanding achievement and delivery of services to residents. Municipalities to earn “Leading the Way” distinction ranked in the top 10 percent of all local governments with regard to their composite performance in three areas of the ETC Institute’s annual survey, including: satisfaction with the overall quality of services, satisfaction with customer service provided by employees and satisfaction with the value residents think they receive for local taxes and fees.

Tatham pointed out Perryville also ranked highly among municipalities surveyed since August 2020.
The city placed in the top 10 percent of all cities that took part in an ETC Institute survey in the categories of: management of traffic flow, walking/bike trails, overall quality of a ‘downtown’ area and how well the community is managing growth.
The award recognizes local governments that rank in the top 10 percent of all communities in the United States with regard to resident satisfaction with the overall quality of local governmental services, customer service, and the value provided for local taxes/fees.
