City administrator appointed to state Finance Board

Perryville city administrator Brent Buerck was appointed by Gov. Mike Parson to the Missouri Development Finance Board earlier this week.
The announcement came Monday evening via the governor’s office and is subject to a Senate confirmation process.
Buerck applied for the board position online.
It’s a governor-appointed board of 12 individuals that requires Senate confirmation later this year, Buerck said Tuesday evening.
“This group reviews economic development projects across the state,” Buerck said.
It’s a two-year appointment and meetings take place monthly, according to Buerck.
Eight citizens from across the state are appointed to serve. This group is joined by the state’s department directors for economic development, agriculture and conservation.

“I think it’s very significant for Perryville and southeast Missouri to have representation at that level, to be able to participate and give back to the citizens and serve Gov. Parson in this capacity,” Buerck said.
Parson’s office issued a press release about the announcement Feb. 1. Buerck notified city officials at the Feb. 2 Board of Aldermen meeting.
The confirmation process hasn’t been scheduled yet. Buerck thinks that will likely occur in March.
“I was just notified recently that I’ve been appointed to the Missouri Finance Board,” Buerck told the Board of Aldermen at Tuesday’s meeting. “This is quite an honor for me. I’m humbled, but also I think it’s great for Perryville and southeast Missouri.
Buerck reiterated that the appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.
“We’ve been able to access this in the past,” Buerck said. “T.G. has used it in some of their expansions, but this committee assists the state of Missouri in looking at economic development projects.”
Buerck has served as city administrator more than 11 years. In his capacity with the city, he oversees public works department, leads economic development initiatives and is responsible for the development and management of the city of Perryville’s budget.
Previously, Buerck served as a senior program administrator for the Missouri Division of Youth Services. He is a member of the Missouri City Manager’s Association and Missouri National Veterans Memorial.
